I
could miss Kusturica. I could miss Rage against the machine, I could even miss
KISS. But when I saw that Serj Tankian and Scars on Broadway were
performing in the same festival, in my country, during the summer holiday, I
knew that it was something I couldn't miss.
I took a night train with my father, and got to Paris around seven in the
morning, first day of the festival. We spent the morning walking in Paris, and
then went to the festival.
We were a bit late, so we arrived just when Apocalyptica was leaving the stage,
then we saw Hot chip (great!), and after them, it was Serj's concert!!!!!!!
We got a place just in front of the stage, in the third row, which was a very
bad idea because it was the pogo + tall people place.
Finally, the FCC appeared, everyone went really crazy, and then Serj
arrived!!! They started playing the unthinking majority (do they always start
with this one?), and that's when I understood I wasn't in the good place,
because I could barely hear Serj singing.
After that, he said hello and played feed us. Then came Lie lie lie with this;
"What happens if you take borat and romeo and juliet, and make them FUCK
with each other?" intro, which I really
didn't get
I finally managed to get to a better place, and then the gig actually started
for me, so I can't remember precisely the set. They played the whole ETD.
They did the Abba stuff with 'Money', and it was really fun, because Serj
looked so happy, like "look what I found, it's so cool, haha"
Before playing 'Baby', he said something like "I wrote it in Paris, so this
song belongs to Paris" (I only heard "so this song belongs to Paris", actually,
but then I guessed that's what he said...)
Something I noticed : the ptlpta performance was
great, I was amazed, I think it's the
song they played the best, really!
Last they played 'Empty walls' and went off the stage, in joy and happiness.
There was no encore, but I think there was barely any in the whole festival,
because it was all precisely planned...
After that we saw Kaiser Chiefs and REM, both great, but that's another story

Scars On Broadway
The second day of the festival, we arrived a bit earlier, and went to see Louis
XIV, which I had never heard about. It was OK...
After them, Scars had to play like 45 minutes later, but there was nothing
really good on the other stages, so we stayed, and had a good place. We were on
the right side, in the first row, so I could perfectly see the stage and hear
everything.
After a moment, some people started shouting "we want scars", but that didn't
make the time go faster
Finally, the big screens on both sides of the stage showed the band was
arriving. Everyone started screaming, but there was another 5 minutes before
they got on stage, and the crowd obviously went crazy. Daron said what's up (ok,
he said what's up, motherfuckers! ) and they started playing... I can't even
remember what song they played.
They played almost all their songs without stopping, and their energy was
amazing . They did the whole album, except '3005' and 'Babylon', and of course
they played 'They Say' last.
This gig was better for me than Serj's, not because of the performance, that
were both great, but because I was in a decent place to hear the music and see
the people playing...
That all I can say for now about this concert...
After scars, we saw the raconteurs, justice, and the streets, all great . And of
course, Amy Winehouse wasn't there .
