As
for the set, I don't remember the order except that he opened with 'Unthinking
Majority', and then went into 'Empty Walls' and 'Feed Us'. He did every song
from Elect The Dead except, 'Elect The Dead' and 'Money', as well as 'Holiday in
Cambodia'.
Serj (and Cavalera Conspiracy) are really the reason I was willing to dish out
150 dollars for pit tickets. The friend I went with was excited for Serj as
well, (not as much as Metallica though) and this was his first time seeing him.
We did see a few obvious Serj fans, sporting SOAD shirts, and even Serj shirts.
When he finally came on stage, it seems like those fans that we saw were the
only ones who were really there.
Only a group of about 20-30 people cheered after every song. Even when he did
'Empty Walls', only that many people sang, which was still more than the other
songs considering Empty Walls was a single.
Towards
the end of the set, Serj even said it himself, "Who said you can't laugh and
have fun at a Metal show? Yeah baby!"
Every member of the FCC was sporting black, but the drummer brought some
fairy wings with him!
I don't recall what the last song was, but right after it, Serj did not say
goodnight, or goodbye, or enjoy Metallica. They all just left the stage, I
thought this was very Un-Serj.
Another thing to note is that, I guess to appeal to the Metal crowd, the drummer
(Sorry but his name escapes me at the moment >_<) added double bass to some of
his fills in which there usually isn't any double bass.
Sorry for how sloppy this "review" is. It just really disappoints me how
ignorant some people were during the show. But at least Serj knew that me, my
friend, and those 15 other people were there and excited for him.
The Dimebag tribute was poorly organized in my opinion. First they
showed a video of some of Dimebag's highlights, including his always hilarious
glam days. And then they did 3 or 4 songs, each with different guitarists and
singers. I think Vinnie Paul did drums for all of them. Max Cavalera covered a
Pantera song, I can't remember which one. Scott Ian, Kerry King, and Jerry
Cantrell were a part of it so I thought that was cool.
