What'choo think?
This is from - answers.com/topic/amen-band
"Casey Chaos was also working on a side-project with Daron Malakian called Scars In Hollywood, but it didn't work out, and Daron used several of their recordings, claiming them as his own, for the album Mesmerise by System Of a Down, including the hit single BYOB. Casey was left out of the writing credits and is yet to be paid any money for his writing."
I searched, but didn't find anything that said anything like this. But it is/was "Scars on Broadway" isn't/wasn't it? Anyway, I read about Casey Chaos in an interview saying something about other people "stealing his ****" Wonder if he was talking about this. Who knows.. |

| I don't think so...I mean,Daron doesn't seem like the kind of person who would steal. And even if he would have stolen it,I don't think Casey Chaos would have kept quiet about it. |

I heard of a project called Scars on Broadway with Casey Chaos and lately we heard of the same title being used for Daron's solo project. I wondered at that time why that title came back.
And about the songs on Mezmerize, I don't wanna be mean, but I'm not sure Casey is able to write so good music... |

I don't know anything about that but, as it happens, I was just reading one of the magazine articles here - Guitar One, January 2006 - and in the picture of the sheet music for "B.Y.O.B." you can just about read the writing credits: Daron, Serj and Casey *something*. Casey also seems to be one of the copyright holders of the song. So there might be some truth to what you've read.

Da*n it! Can't get thru that link, but that would be interesting. Wonder if Casey gets a cut. |

Hmph. I'm a little pissed off now. I hope System (well, Daron, I guess) didn't lower themselves to stealing music/lyrics... I dunno though. Maybe this Casey guy is just trying to stir up trouble...
Man, I'm internally conflicted. |

Strange, it works for me. Try going to the Photo Gallery, Magazine Scans, Page 1 - the first scan in the third row (where Daron hugs his guitar). |

Oooh thats juicy!
Hahaha, caseys superior stole one of his songs. Maybe thats why Amen got dropped from Darons label, so Daron has nothing to do with them anymore. Shame no songs for Amen were that good really, they could of done well! |

I'm really starting to feel Casey has most of the Chaos going on inside his head.. The man can't ever keep his bandmates or stick to a label (every album has been release on a different label and with a different line up). He's always complaining about not getting enough publicity, and it feels like he's biting the hand that feeds/fed.
So maybe Daron has been inspired or slightly influenced by Amen, but that's quite different than writing the songs together. |
