This is System of a Down's third album which is made up of songs which didnt make it on to Toxicity. This is not a B-Sides album. The songs didnt fit the feeling that System of a Down where trying to get across on Toxicity. These songs then leaked on to the internet in unfinished forms so the band decided to clean them up and release them.

1. Chic 'n' Stu (2:23) 3.5/5
A quirky intro to the album. The song is about the effect advertising has on people and society. It is a reasonably weak intro to the album in my opinion.

2. Innervision (2:33) 4.5/5
The song kicks straight in to a heavy riff before moving into a flowing riff which makes you feel like you are driving along. Has a great interlude in the middle with tribal drumming.

3. Bubbles (1:57) 4/5
A fast paced song which features good backing vocals from Daron and also an awesome verse. One of my favourites when I first got the album

4. Boom (2:15) 4/5
The only song of STA to have a video made. Probably System of a Down's most obviously political single that has been released the song originated from a poem written by Serj.

5. Nuguns (2:30) 3/5
A bit of a nothing song in my opinion. Doesn't add anything to the album. Has a very cool solo however.

6. A.D.D. (3:17) 4/5
Possibly the coolest intro to a song ever. Good drumming in the verse gives it a very solemn feel. A solid song.

7. Mr Jack (4:09) 5/5
One of the three best songs on the album and now becoming a regular on the live set. It is sung about a serial killer who is finally confronted by police at the end. The interlude in the middle is a nice touch and helps express the story of the song.

8. I-E-A-I-A-I-O (3:0Cool 4/5
Starts with a crisp drum beat before launching into a heavy riff. The verses are made up of tounge twisters while the chorus is a anthemic chant. A nice wee solo borrows from the 'Night Rider' theme.

9. 36 (0:46) 3.5/5
A short song which reminds me of Cubert off the first album. Flows nicely into Pictures.

10. Pictures (2:06) 4/5
A good song which has a sort of marching drum chorus with some whacky sounds from Serj mimicking a trumpet. Good backing vocals from Daron

11. Highway Song (3:13) 4.5/5
A very melodic song which I believe would have fitted on Toxicity quite nicely. They should play this live more I think. One of the better songs on STA.

12. Fuck the System (2:12) 4/5
Nonsensical lyrics make up the verses before bursting into the angry chorus where Serj shouts the song title. A nice interlude.

13. Ego Brain (3:21) 5/5
Joins Mr Jack in the three best songs of the album. Nice guitar work throughout the whole song flows together well and has a great chorus. Should be played live.

14. Thetawaves (2:36) 3/5
I often find myself skipping this song and in my opinion one of the weakest songs on the album. The olny redeeming feature of it is the cool guitar solo.

15. Roulette (3:21) 5/5
Rounding out the top three songs on the album. This is the first acoustic song from SOAD and features great harmonies from Serj and Daron. Daron wrote this before the Self Titled album though you wouldn't know it. One of the best songs written by him in my opinion.

16. Streamline (3:37) 3.5/5
Written for the Scorpion King soundtrack this song is full of wierd timesignatures. Not a great album finisher but reasonably solid.

Pros:
Roulette
Mr Jack
Ego Brain

Cons:
Thetawaves
Nuguns

I dont really understand why you said thetawaves and nuguns are the weakest on the album and you didnt say anything good about them except the solos, yet you give them 3/5. ???

yeah honestly thetawaves is cool, worth at least 3.5, and nuguns is my favorite song on the album next to mr. jack and roulette. i also higly disagree with the 3.5 on streamline, its an amazing song.

Idea Yeah Streamlines Great but I would have given 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 to Fuck the System thats my second fav song by system next to mind. Nuguns a good song with a great solo I agree on that and Thetawaves has AMAZING GUITAR VERSES and the breakdown is great. Question

Good review but about the comment on the album in comparison to Toxicity ... each album has it's own originality

Good review, although a little more detail would have been better.

STA is a fantastic album, System's best, IMO... Thetawaves is my fave. ^_^
