Well there's the artical. Basically this fellow has drawn some Gruesome Adaptations of cartoon characters getting killed to show the reality of cartoon violence.....Of course the exhibition is a huge hit with young children.
I didn't know wheather to put this in General discussion or Toxicity so I threw it in here. |

I'd assume so. It's not made by the originaly artists obviously so it's hardly going to be on par to it |

"Its very difficult to shock kids these days - you have cartoon characters being shot in the head and walking off cliffs, so we have decided to replace them with something more realistic."
So cartoons were meant to shock kids? <_<...
"We are constantly fed images of violence in this country, but we will have to see how people react when the show opens."
DUDE
These are cartoons, not another Faces Of Death movie...
"It should be a very successful show, and will raise lots of questions about violence in the media and in our culture."
Damn, that's new...
Gallery owner, Steve Lowe, said: "It's amazing work, and from the reactions we've had to it so far, children have loved it."
Oh well...
IMO, the guy's got it all wrong. I really do appreciate his take on violence in the media, and his stuff is probably considered "art", but using cartoons (not the vulgar, violent ones) as an approach to raise awareness of violence in the medie isn't quite right.
Movies, music, and hell...VIDEO GAMES could've been more sensible topics.
ONCE AGAIN, this is only my opinion. |

I laughed at the photos, but maybe that's just my sense of humour.
I think it's a good way to show the truth of the violence that kids watch in cartoons, but honestly - most of these cartoons were done in the forties, and back then it was perfectly acceptable.
Of course I guess it's a good way to show kids what the consequences of their actions would be if they were to subject actual violence on others - i.e. shooting someone in the head will generally kill them.
But there again, I don't really think that's what the guy is trying to get across. Meh.
I just looked at the link to the "uncensored" versions of the pictures, and they are kind of cool but I don't think it's going to amount to anything since most parents won't take their kids to this show, so how is it going to show kids anything at all? |

Hmm. It reminds me of South Park's Imaginationland episodes. It showed all kinds of cartoon characters getting blown to bits, Strawberry Shortcake was tortured and disfigured, Popeye was gang raped by little woodland creatures ...
This is an interesting exhibit, but I don't think it's that unique. |

| Uh...so? Family Guy does the same thing all the time. I don't see how anyone could, or should get worked up about it. |

| lol. i love that clip! This is nothing new really. The kids love it because it's blood and gore in art. Stuff that their parents don't let them see. It's only controversial because someone made a big deal. |
