Verse 1:
Superstition taking all of us for a ride
Mimes overtaken by the signs of the Right
The bombs are falling overhead with no sight
While you are talking all detached
All of us have our own relgious beliefs about how, when, why, and where the end of the world will come. Yet most of the time it is based upon what we WANT it to be, rather than believing what the bible says it will be, word for word; making our beliefs "Superstition."
The Mimes are the false teachers and prophets (the evil) that Christ warns about in Matthew and Revelation. The signs of the Right (the good) are Christ's teachings and warnings of what will come before The Armageddon (Matthew 24: 3-14).
The bombs represent the fires, wars, blooshed, betrayals, and deaths that will result from "nation rising against nation" (Matt. 24:7). No sight means we won't be able to fortell where evil or war will take place, and sometimes not able to tell which is good or which is evil.
During this, some will talk detached from the realization of this war, the end of the age that is dawning, and from what they can do to help the righteous.
Pre-chorus
I think the pre-chorus shifts perspectives. I think its about the unjust being sent to hell after The Armageddon, kind of like this:
The unjust: "Where we going?"
God: "To the bottom."
The unjust: "Do you hear us!!??? We are rotting!"
Now, chorus A, in perspective of the unjust.
We're going down in a spiral to the ground
No one, no one's gonna save us now
The unjust and the forces of evil are defeated and are digging farther and farther towards hell. No one can save them now, for they are doomed to their wickedness.
Verse 2 goes back to the present:
Ceremonies have killed religions for they provide
The masked comforts to delusionals,
they're all in fright
The true believer's head was bathed in sunlight
While you are walking all detached, so tell us
Formal meetings, teachings, and appearances portray righteousness and seem (to some people) to make someone a morally good person. They are masked from a real, day-to-day basis of true christianity, and provide comfort to others who follow them (delusionals) only in ceremonies.
True religion to God's word is killed due to this inconsistency.
They are all scared of the truth of the complete word of God, so they only take out scriptures that comfort them and downplay the others. The truth was there for them all, clean and pure, but they walked detached from it, only taking what they wanted from it.
Repeat pre-chorus.
Now, Chorus B shifts back to the unjust falling to hell and they now realize that God will have them no longer for they are doomed:
We're going down in a spiral to the ground
No one, no one's gonna save us now
Not even God, no one saved us
No one's gonna save us
Bridge:
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
Where do you expect them to go when the bombs fall?
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
I think of this as a prayer, asking God during the time of Armageddon, to show us which side we should be on or were to escape to in order to have his protection from this war.
What is his expectation from us? What is his will?
Also, where do we expect "them" (the delusionals, unjust, false teachers) to go to if we don't try to help them and bring each other up in righteousness?
Repeat Verse 1.
Repeat Chorus A/B.
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
Thanks for your time....this is not my conviction, just a theory based on lyrics, so its open to comment, debate, etc. |

There will always be people who don't care what you sing, who don't care what goes on as long as the like the music
