Ok so, I need to vent out some thoughts, I figured the best place would be Toxicity.

Since my college classes started i've been noticing that I really don't like being around people. Between classes it's not that big of a deal but it's really noticeable while i'm in class, I start to get nervous and I start to stress. I wouldn't be to suprised if I had anxiety problems, i've been smoking cigarettes way more than I usually do, I don't eat as much and I don't get any of my homework done at all.

How do you people deal with stress?

Used to be cutting myself and banging my head against a wall. Both not good.

Now? I listen to music, write a list of what is bothering me, and another list of what needs to be done. I often fins that once it's down on paper, it's not such a huge deal. Try it.

This is one of the best remedies. I would also like to add that its helpful if you draw or even scribble, even if you're not good at it. Don't worry if you're not. Try to sit and put whatever thoughts and feelings you have -stressful or not- in the form of drawings. I do that, and I feel so much better afterwards.

Generally, you have to find some type of activity to keep yourself busy. But let me ask you, is this your first year in college? Have you recently moved? If that's the case, maybe you need time to adjust to the new environment. Its not easy to adjust to new things, and trust me you can easily be lead into seclusion if you don't try to deal with it.

Ask yourself if this stress happened recently, or did you suffer for a while? I mean how long have you had it? There must have been something in your life that caused such feelings. Try to define it and think of a solution. Good luck to you.

You need a hobby and someone to talk to. Vent it out to someone. Friend, parent, bible I dont know. As for a hobby, find something you really like to do to pass time. Just try not to worry or make a big deal out of it because it might just be a rough time.

Whatever you do don't let stress conflict with your studies cuz you'll be fucked with bad grades.

Fuck that, cutting is for pussies.

I do have a hobby, I play guitar and the occasional piano.

Well good play those then. Make songs maybe? Or really just vent it all out here it's still something to talk to.

Yeah, I had major anxiety problems during my year and 1/2 in college. Just walking around and waiting for classes made me sweat; not to mention the stress of commuting 30 minutes back and forth. Never really got over it.

I wasn't able to balance it any longer once I got a job. I'm having to build up a bankroll now just to be able to go back and finish in a year or so.

Like someone said earlier, writing definitely takes off the pressure. Prayer, and reading the bible, have helped me the most, personally.

The same thing happens to me my friend. My only solution is vast amounts of music, guitar, and talking and hanging out with close friends.

I'm exactly the same way. This is my second year of college. Last year and this year as soon as classes start, when classes end I just want to be alone in my room. Hanging out with people or any type of socialization is not desirable. It's like extra work for me to socialize and freaks me out.

What gets me to let out any anger/stress is playing soccer. I was on a team for awhile and running and kicking the shit out of the ball is fun and feels great. However, I had to quit because the team I was on was run by tyrants I swear. I'm still on an intramural soccer team though.

Also playing music helps. I play accordion and guitar and keyboards. Sometimes I'm so stressed or just... weird in my head that I don't even want to play music. I can't get myself to do anything. Anything except maybe... eat/surf the web endlessly/buy stuff on Ebay(which is a bad habit that needs to stop, I'm running out of money, really!). But if I get past my not being able to do anything and start playing music, I find I don't want to put the instrument down.

I will also add that I tell my boyfriend everything. EVERYTHING. So having ONE close person to talk to helps.

Additionally, I come to this website to talk about things or just absorb myself in something I like, SOAD. Not all the time but sometimes it helps (and hopefully this is helping you).

I'm not sure this type of feeling of stress from school can be truly stopped--- or, rather, that it SHOULD be stopped. Honestly, I think people like us have our priorities straight. I'm not kidding. I would explain but... I can't figure out how to explain....... um........ I'll end this here.

Being a musician is all I've ever dreamed of being and playing the guitar or drums is all I've ever done.
