I was 17 then but I'm 18 now. In Massachusetts where I live, an underage speeding ticket means a 3 month license suspension and a $500 fee to get your license back afterward in addition to the ticket fine ($100 for me).

I'm requesting a hearing though. I'm going to contest it in hopes to get the suspension repealed.

Any tips or suggestions of what to say in court? I don't mind paying the $100 fine, so I'll probably plead guilty. Pleading innocent would probably backfire. I just really need to get out of loosing my license for 90 days and having to pay the massive extra fine.

It happened exactly 7 days before my 18th birthday too. Had I been 18, I would just pay the damn fine and be done with it and have no further consequences.

Gawd Michael, what were you thinking? lmfao.

Man, I got ONE speeding ticket a long time ago and I had to appear in court 3 times, then take this 5 hour course ($20) to get the points taken off from my license.

I had to first appear just to show up for getting the ticket, then another date with the officer that issued the ticket (which he got the fine reduced by $20 for it being my 'first offense'), then take the 5 hour course (there goes the $20) and then appear again to show I took the course and to pay the fine.

You should just own up to it. Razz
I think the main reason why they try to make it so difficult is so that it deters people from doing it again, but it's also paying for your own responsibility. We are told by the judge to plead 'not guilty' and I told him, "I know I did it" and he STILL said, "plead not guilty". I'm like wtf am I pleading not guilty to? Laughing

Aww man that really sucks. Sad Especially being so close to your birthday. I hope the judge doesn't have some massive pole up his ass and lets you just pay the fine. But think, it COULD be worse.

My aunt was driving in Canada, and they caught her going...fast. She never did say how much over. But she got fined $2000 and got 6 points for it.
