I just got a speeding ticket a couple weeks ago.
I was 17 then but I'm 18 now. In Massachusetts where I live, an underage speeding ticket means a 3 month license suspension and a $500 fee to get your license back afterward in addition to the ticket fine ($100 for me).
I'm requesting a hearing though. I'm going to contest it in hopes to get the suspension repealed.
Any tips or suggestions of what to say in court? I don't mind paying the $100 fine, so I'll probably plead guilty. Pleading innocent would probably backfire. I just really need to get out of loosing my license for 90 days and having to pay the massive extra fine.
It happened exactly 7 days before my 18th birthday too. Had I been 18, I would just pay the damn fine and be done with it and have no further consequences.

Where in MA did this happen..???
How fast were you going...????
What was the speed limit....??
I'm probably not the best person to give you advice, since my license is suspended right now...
I have to take the fucking T every day...
But it's not bad at all, my apt is 10 feet away from the bus stop...in watertown.. |

| It was in Lexington in between my house and the center. The speed limit is 30 and I was ticketed for going 40 but I was actually going closer to 50. The cop told me that too. |

Good luck, dude....
But seriously I doubt you have a chance in court...
They're always on the hunt for underage drivers..to "teach them a lesson".... |

in California a good way to get out of a ticket is by pleading not guilty and having the trial pushed back about a month. your excuse for moving it could be that you work in a certain area and would rather have it there. my best friend did that for a speeding ticket, and since the cope didn't show up because it was about 3 months after the original ticket, it was my friend's word over nobody's and he was found not guilty.
hope that helps.
EDIT: i know these tricks because my mom works in court and finds these things out |

keeping pushing the date until the cop doesn't show works when you don't want to pay the ticket, but our amie has an underage issue. I suggest you call your insurance agent. they would know what to do.
This is more of a matter of your age at the time.
Exactly how long ago was the incident? |

It happened on the night of the 13th (technically the 14th, it was just after midnight).
I turned 18 the following Sunday on the 21st. |

| It helps if the cop didn't really give a crap. Some cops will show up 3 months from the ticket just to piss you off. You can try pleading not guilty, but if he shows and says that you are you're likely screwed. |

| if you plead not guilty and the cop shows up, the worst case scenario is the same as it would be if you jut pled guilty. you only have to pay the fine. |

^^ and his driving privileges would be suspended for 90 days for being underaged.
Have you talked to the insurance agent yet? |
