why isn't there already a thread about Beck ? He's one of the most recognizeable artists of the alternative and experimental genres . He has a way of mixing many genres together and fusing many instruments into his sound , which he plays most of himself .His stlye ranges from rock , to folk , to blues , to country , even hip hop , to anything possibly imagineable . His lyrics are unusual and trippy , and sometimes emphasize the irony of life's problems .

Beck has just released a new album , " Modern Guilt " .

edit : here is a teaser for it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDoYZJL4CcQ
you can discuss that , or his very successful past releases . . .

*applauds*

beck is an amazing artist. one of my top favorites.
but he doesn't get alot of attention, as in being "popular"
which, i personally like, cuz that makes him cooler to me.
but just the same, he doesn't get very much credit for his work.

and that's sad.

beck's awesome. my favorite beck album is mellow gold. i haven't heard the new album yet as i just started downloading it...i'm going to buy it, but i don't have the money right now (i've gotta get scars and go see the dark knight)

but yeah, beck is one of the more original artists around today imo

yeah , Mellow Gold is really old school , and the new album isn't that bad , but it's theme isn't very energetic , that's just a warning , the theme is more of looking at life's problems . Despite the theme , there's still some songs that deliver the point with a certain energy.

I'm planning on buying " The Information " just cause it was his latest release , before I downloaded this that is , but still , I'll buy it , and also for the very creative concept of leaving the cover blank , and putting stickers in the booklet for you to make your own cover , that's awesome !

but if I were to listen to one after " The Information " , I definitely want " Midnite Vultures "

though technically I love all the words uttered in that song Wink

and after that , he gave us such things as this , showing he's not a one hit wonder with " Loser " :

" I got two turntables and a microphone ! " Cool

the new album is awesome. i just listened to it a little while ago.

when i was coming back from seeing three days grace, my mom turned off the radio because she "had enough music" so i started singing beck songs until she turned the radio back on.

yeah it's good , but like I said , it's gloomy , but there are some thoughts of hope in it

I hope he makes some music videos for it , his videos are always so creative and trippy

E-pro is cool because of the effects and the animation , and Girl is creative because of those folding things that give a new message

it's really a tough choice for me

there's Sexx Laws , it has lots of crazy things , and . . . JACK BLACK ! before he became so famous ! that's cool !

then there's Mixed Bizness for the trippiness

or Nausea , puppets version for . . . well , the puppets !

Hell Yes , for featuring those robots , and only those 4 exist in the whole world

Loser , for the trippiness also

there must be more , but those are the ones I'm thinking of now
