Me and my wife were lucky enough to have passes for this show as we are good friends of dominic the bass player. To start with the plan was to hook up at the venue with Dom and meet the rest of the band at 3pm. However the plan was changed as the band was going to Radio 1 to do some session recordings. This was the reason why they were so late.

We got to the club at 3.30pm and head down into the Underworld and waited for the band to arrive. It was great watching the roadies setting up and stuff. It was a really long wait as we were majorily excited to see Dominic. Finally they arrived at the venue at 6.30pm. Had a good 30min chat with DOminic took loads of pics and then were introduced to Franky (guitar) and Danny (Keyboards). Got a brief hi from John who did not chat as he was eating!!! Daron was also in the back eating so never got to meet him either. Was fantastic meeting Franky and Danny. So down to earth and nice. Made us feel really welcome.

Got to watch the sound check for the show which was amazing. The guys just riffed three songs out really relaxed and tight. Then the doors opened and everyone piled in. Dominic said that this show was a full sell out and only a few ticket were available at the door.

For the show it was amazing. We watched from the ballcony area just by the soundboards. Having listened to all the songs on youtube and various bootlegs i know most of them. What surprised me though was how tight these guys are. They have only been playing together since April 2008. A few festivals, support slots with Metallica and a few European shows. God knows what they are going to be like come the American shows in October.

Franky was amazing both on guitar and vocals, Danny although positioned out of sight was rocking out to every song, John and Daron were both seasoned pros and my great friend Dominic had the funky moves a bass player should have. They are all amazing talents in there own right especially Dom and Franky who both have great solo projects to there name already. As a unit they are a sick. So tight its scary.

After the show we got to spend a bit more time with Dom and congradulate Danny, John and Franky on a great show. Daron did not come out of the dressing room when we were there which was a shame but we were happy to spend some time with DOm and speak to the other guys.

All in all this show was amazing in so many ways. The music was fantastic, the band tight, the sound quality amazing, the intemacy of the venue was cool and the chance to finally meet Dominic was magical. If you get chance to see these guys take it for sure. They are going to be massive.

I can not express how cool a guy Dominic is. We got talking on Myspace about 2 years ago when i first heard his solo project. Me and my wife did loads of work helping him promo and harassing radio and magazines. Got him reviewed in Metal Hammer Magazine. Was ment to meet him on our honeymoon in Montreal in April but a week before we landed he got the gig with Scars and headed out to LA. Crazyness really. He is such a talented and cool ass guy. He was really happy after the show as he had not drank beer for month as he has a gluten deficiency but we brought him some gluten free beer! LOL

hey guys..this is a review from the (awesome) show from gigwise.com...

It’s Independence Day, and in Camden’s Underworld one man truly celebrating a newfound freedom is Daron Malakian. The former System of a Down guitarist is back with his new band Scars On Broadway and appears a man who has regained his creative power after breaking the frustrating shackles of musical stagnancy.

Bearded up like Vikings wielding their axes, Scars On Broadway take to the stage with an enthusiasm and presence of men half their age eager to take on the industry. The intimate discreet settings provided an adequate stage for the band to showcase their forthcoming self-titled album.

Malakian recently told Gigwise that his sole future priorities would be with his new band, and this was made ever clear by his performance in Camden. Jumping and bobbing around while sharing eye-popping glances with the drooling audience he had the determined look of a man who had finally found his purpose.

A lyrically baffling and jesting collection of songs married with ardent world liberty expressions amalgamated into a set of fixating and somewhat capricious songs. The shockingly brutal and expressively honest words of ‘Chemicals’, which includes the lines: “Fuck the world as we’re ready to rock/Piss on your face while you suck on my cock,” along with the chanting “Come eat some chemicals with me,” make for one of the most entertaining moments of the night.

‘Enemy’ is similar in its creative connotations with the repetition of “We’re all on drugs,” making headway during a break in the song.

Narcotics and jovial meanings aside the songs are less ambitious then System of a Down with a poppier edge that allows for some consistency. Other striking tracks on the night include single ‘They Say’, ‘World Long Gone’ and ‘Whoring Streets’.

The rhythms are clearer and the vocal work between Malakian and guitarist Franky Perez stands at the forefront of the rest of the exertions.

The powerfully balanced and durable work going on behind the stage show by John Dolmayan is also not to be overlooked. His consistency and experienced abilities provide a tight sound that nods back to his days in System.

There was little time for talk between the songs as Malakian let the album do the talking for him. A blistering set culminated in many a satisfied punter who will now be counting down the days till the album release date.
