I went to see Serj & the FCC on Sunday and I had an absolute blast! Erwin had put me and two friends on the guestlist (once more, big big thanks to the very awesome Erwin for doing that!), which gave us the opportunity to watch the show ON STAGE.
We met up with the guys shortly before they went on stage, talked a little with Serj and Erwin, had pics taken with Serj & Mario. We watched them huddle together as they sang a dirty little song (Suck Me Off) together before they went on.
I was a bit too stoked to notice the exact set list, so you'll have to excuse me for not knowing which songs they played exactly. They were great as ever, btw.
During Honking Antelope Serj took over the keys, and Erwin came round to us for a little chat before quickly heading back to the next song. Watching Troy beat the crap out of his drums from so close was totally awesome, he even broke a skin during one track.
The only thing that was a little minor point of being on stage is that I couldn't see Erwin or Ler play, but as I'm gonna go see them again in August, I think I'll get another chance for that, so I won't complain.
After the show we headed to the backstage area, where we bumped into Erwin & Serj again. Took some pics with Erwin and then checked out Queens of the Stone Age with Erwin. I also got to chat with Troy and had a pic taken with him before really watching the Queens. After a bit I noticed someone else standing next to me and to my surprise it was Serj. I was like 'oh hello again' to which he flashed me one of his great smiles.
When QOTSA ended, we went back to the backstage area, where I got to talk to Mario for a bit and I met the very nice photographer Eye-Sack, with who I had my pic taken then. When we got to talk with Erwin about the tourbus, he took us back to the parking lot to check it out. Saw Troy again there and by that time Rage Against The Machine took to the stage.
My friends went to see them, once more standing on the side of the stage, while I headed back to the parking lot where another friend picked me up and after a round of hugs & 3 kisses (the Dutch custom) Erwin disappeared backstage again, with promises of meeting again in August.

I realise I'm lucky Leeeeenda! Even in November when I went to see them and met Erwin (who then also gave me a personal note from Serj), I thought I was so lucky already and now all of this, it's just incredible.
Serj is so nice, even right before the show; very relaxed and laughing about my introduction joke. And then later on when I saw him again backstage & on the side of the stage with QOTSA, he was still smiling and making small-talk. I didn't want to bother him too much though, as he watched Queens, so I just asked if he liked them and then left him to watch them.
However, I have to say it was Troy who stole my heart this time (after Erwin had already done so last year). All the while he and I talked, we were having our arms around each other's waist/shoulder and I just kept looking up into his eyes, smiling like a loon. 
These guys are so incredibly nice, it's impossible to not like them. I can't imagine Dan and Ler aren't just every bit as nice, who knows if I get to find that out next time.
Silke, Serj and the guys will perform in Holland again in August, so there's no doubt in my mind that I won't be going to see them again then.  |
