i was looking around on the Coachella message board and came across this. Basically, 90% of the people on there are slating Scars which i found interesting...lets be honest, we're all huge fans of SOAD and anything that the guys do as side-projects we're going to be kinda bias towards...saying that, i do like the sound of of Scars so far but im not gunna judge them either way based on the standard of a few shit quality Youtube videos, its an injustice to Daron and John to be honest...so i'll be waiting until July 29th until i make my judgements...its just interesting when it emerges that people who have no particular "alligence" to SOAD didn't seem that impressed..

Fuck them. I thought it was good, and I only saw crappy youtube vids. And it's not like I am some huge friggin Daron fan and am just sticking up for them. Daron's voice isn't my favorite.
I am really looking forward to their album that's coming out. |

That was actually pretty interesting to read. some of the things the wrote in that thread were just priceless.

Come on... were getting opinions of people who were waiting to listen to Islands... ISLANDS (Who I quite like but are so far off scars it's not even funny). Or Animal Collective but yada yada same deal...
Oh and from 'huge' soad fans who can't spell Daron properly. |

| TBH so far im not that impressed. To start off i'm not that into darons voice it doesn't do it for me. I was kinda pissed off when daron started coming more into the spotlight in the last two albumns because he took system in a direction that i didn't like as much. I would be lying though if i said they were not inovative albumns as far as soad goes. I just didn't like them they were not as heavey as the first three. I'm not going to piss all over the SOB albumn before ive heard all its songs and i will buy it, but somehow I dont think its going to blow me away. Tankians albumn on the other hand i quite liked but i could only listen to it once because i found some of the songs a bit repetative. Hes a better musican than daron and your an idiot if you dont see that. He has a broader knowledge of styles and his voice has a better range it think. |
