hey everyone, i just got back from coachella! i went with a bunch of my friends and we had an awesome time. i want to tell you all about my experience there, seeing Serj and Scars again, so here it is
All day Friday I was waiting for 9:55 pm when Serj and the FCC would go on stage. I decided that I wanted to be all the way in the front for their set, so I went 2 hours early and got my way. I was right in front of Serj on the rails and it was amazing. The band started their set with a new song called "Sounds Of War." It was so awesome, watching them from the front. During that song, i noticed that John Dolmayan was standing on the side watching the show. I grabbed his attention and communicated with him. I told him to go and play a song with Serj, and he said that i should wait until the next day when scars would be playing. I pointed out that i'd be right in the front for his show too, and he nodded and gave me a thumbs up! i was sooo happy. I had seen Serj twice before the coachella show, and the coachella show was by far the best of the 3. the band seemed like they had better cohesiveness and the music was amazing. They played for an hour and left to a great ovation. At the end, I yelled out John's name again and told him i'd see him tomorrow, and he looked at me and smiled. (this led to something great... read on!) after that, i saw greg watermann coming toward me. We had talked before during the day and i thought he was just going to say goodnight or something, but he came up to me and gave me a serj pick. he said he loved my shirt that i was wearing (he took the pic) and just handed me the pick.
so it came time for scars on saturday, and i had to sit through kate nash in order to get to the front for them. the sound techs had problems with the setup, which led to scars coming on a half an hour late. when they started, daron's guitar wasn't working right for half of "i like suicide," but they fixed it. after that song, i yelled out john's name, he looked at me and gave me a nod and a smile, and at that point i just rocked out to the music. the set was really great, it was very hot but well worth it. the band played almost flawlessly, and daron's stage presence was awesome. at the end of their set, john got up to toss some sticks, and he came right up to me and handed me the first stick and said thanks. that was one of the best feelings ever. if you read my review of the first scars show at the whisky, you would notice that this is my second time catching a john stick. i had to work a lot harder for it the first time though because he didn't hand it to me. just when i thought things couldn't get better, i saw watermann on stage again, asked him to give me the set list, and he did. so from the two shows i got a pick, a stick, and a set list. i'd hadn't been that happy in a long time.
both shows were amazingly amazing, worth every penny that i spent this weekend.
other notable shows were Roger Waters, who was simply awesome, Prince, Portishead, and The Swell Season. coachella was a great time, and everyone at one point of their lives should attend the festival.
hopefully i'll get pics of all the stuff i got tomorrow. i need to get the videos of scars from my friend's camera and i'll post it up on you tube again...

And out of curiosity, did you scream "John!" or "John Dolmayan"? |

| Hope the vidz you got are good quality. Did you friend recorded the whole show? BTW good to hear you had a good time. Festivals usaually are pretty fun, if you go with the right people. |

i said "john!" as loud as i could lol.
and my videos aren't that great, but good teasers i guess. |
