I haven't listened to the Scars album yet , just the 30 sec previes , and I remember nothing from them
I'd like to buy it and take my time with it
but till now , it's just me , but I'm not comfortable with Scars , it's just me , I'm just not
it may grow on me after I listen to all the songs , even Hungry Ghost |

I really hope this thread isn't a compare thread, and more of just an analysis..like the title claims.
Elect the Dead:
I thought, for what Serj tried to accomplish, was a pretty good album. The lyrics are really insightful and the songs are geared for you to hear them. Serj's voice sounds better than it did on most of the songs he did on Mez/Hyp, but that's probably because he's trying to sing more than keep up his "System" voice. Musically, it was something to be desired, but that wasn't the main focus of the album.
More personal thought: Personally, I didn't care for the album, but by no means, didn't I think it outright sucked. It had a target audience, and it catered to that group. For the most part, I felt like it was just preaching about a subject I don't quite *agree* with him 100%. Though, I need enjoy some songs. Empty Walls ans Beethoven's Cunt stood out to me.

Scars on Broadway
Again, for what he tried to accomplish, I think he succeeded. Took a more "rocky" approach to this album with a mix of an old school vibe. Musically, I found it very creative and the instruments were top notch in performance (Universe and Cute Machines REALLY took out in the drum department, John has truly progressed). Lyrically, for the most part, it was kept simple. Some songs tend to have repetitive lyrics, such as Stoner Hate. However, the songs with the repetivie lyrics, tend to go by quickly and not lag out to the point of irritants.
My personal thought. I loved this album. I liked the direction that was taken and I think it was done well. I'm still debating with myself as to whether Daron's voice actually improved or just sound better with the style of music. Either way, I enjoyed it. Didn't hate any song on the album, but some real standouts to me are Babylon, 3005, and Universe.

Achozen
Can't really make too much comment on it atm, album hasn't come out yet and I can't analyze it based off one song. |

hmmm i suppose it is was going to happen sooner or later...but we need to compare Scars and Serj's stuff
No we don't!
Why is it you guys always gotta turn everything into a pissing contest, and argue over who has the bigger cock?
j/k
Really, it's a lot like comparing apples to oranges. And same with trying to measure either or both against System of a Down.
They're different. Much different. And they both have strengths and weaknesses. To me, Serj's songs are more lyrically diverse, and Scars' more musically diverse. Serj's are intellectually deeper, while Scars' are emotionally so.
I love it. I'm loving all of it. Possibly enough to be glad for the hiatus, on some level. (please don't burn me at the stake, LOL).
Okay, if you nail me to the wall? John only plays drums on like 3 of Serj's songs, and on everything by Scars. So Scars has to be better.

I love it all,
and I don't think we need to fuckn talk about which is "better"
It's all about your personal preferences so stop bitching.
Seriously
Me and Austyn just talked about how people need to stop comparing and arguing over what is better!!!
Especially all this "who's fault it is about the hiatus?"
it's no one's fucking fault! |
