It's not much, but I just came across this article, with a short paragraph dedicated to John's part in the performance, sounds cool!
"Carey’s drumming was flawless. He plowed through the complex songs perfectly despite his recent injury. Although every song performed showcased his proficiency, “Lateralus” was the highlight. Decked out in a white lab coat, System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan dared to play a call and response solo with Carey. The crowd response was almost deafening."

The lab coat is a Tool thing. Every person that gets on stage while performing (outside the band of course) has to wear a lab coat. All the technicians and all the guests during this tour ( the 10000 Days tour) wear lab coats on stage. It's another joke Tool members have come up with, it wasn't John's idea.
Oh, and somewhere on the internet there's a live recording of Triad with John as a guest from his old appearance with them. |

^^That was a joke. I understand the "costumes". John used to play in surgical scrubs. Then the lab coat.....meh.....so not even remotely silly if it must be explained....*sigh*
Yes, he did play with them in 2002. |

Well, his scrub pants said "Dr. Love", so that's the name I prefer! LOL
Anyway, Tool or not, I don't think John has a problem dressing up. You know, he had that weird bodysuit costume on the 2000 tour, as well as the Dr. Love suit in '99, his gas mask in earlier shows, face paint, you name it. Maybe he likes to dress up sometimes. I do! |
