What is this song about? Ive heard that is was originally called "Suicide" but then SOAD changed it to Chop Suey to be like a play on words (Chopy SueyCIDE). Is it really about suicide? Thats what I've mostly heard. But if you look where it says
"I don't think you trust,
In, my, self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die"
And if you know jack about the Bible, then you would know Jesus died willingly, lettting people kill him, not fighting back, some people view this as suicide. And it also talks about angels.
Then if you look down later in the song:
"Father, Father, Father, Father,
Father Into your hands Icommend my spirit,
Father, into your hands,
Why have you forsaken me,
In your eyes forsaken me,
In your thoughts forsaken me,
In your heart forsaken, me oh,"
If anybody has a bible,
Mark 15:34
"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?'—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
Sounds pretty similar.
My question is this: Is this song about suicide or is it about Jesus? |

But then what would the Wake up part be about? I used to think this song was about jesus (and it may be) but now i think this is the meaning: At the beginning, "we're rolling suicide" phrase means any object flying into another solid object. Listen after the the makeup part, and it sounds like shavo or serj yelling 911 but it is hard to hear. Me and a couple of other people have heard the "911" and you can too if you just listen. The wake up part of the song is about how people on 911 woke up, grabbed their makeup, hid their scars to fade away the shakeup, left their keys up on the table, and created another fable or just another day like any other day. That was the american point of view. Then the "i don't think you trust in my" part is from the islam point of view and how they consider themselves selfrightous if they committ suicide for their god. Then the "Father, into your hands" part is about how they feel right before they committ suicide for their god. I realize that the album came out a week before 911 2001 and I feel it was a warning. I'm not calling them terrorists but it seems like they were warning us. Alot of you will say that i'm calling soad terrorist and how could they know that it was going to happen but even people in our own u.s. government knew about the plan so?...I'm just giving another point of view of what this song could be about. Then again it could simply be about Jesus, but still, what would the wake up part be about???

ok, very good on the second persons reasoning. i agree to that more than about jesus. now, based on what WAR?NOMORE! said, i think that maybe it was a warning about any terrorist attack. there have been troubles with the middle east for a while, so it was time that somthing happened. i dont know. but then, when it did, thats exactly what we'd do. the makeup and leaving the keys, then creating a fable. many countries believe that killing themselves for a god is selfrighteous. also, thats how we [i]did react anyway. think about it.

to me, this is mainly about Jesus but it could be about both because Jesus (in a way) committed suicide to save us. so yea, i didn't vote because i see it both ways

ok, think about it. jesus didn't commit suicide. he did not resist, only because he believed that it was god's will. there was no alternative. he crys out in the end of the crucifiction for his lord to help him. he didn't want to die. he felt that he had to though.
