It
was April the 11th 2008, at the Whisky A GO GO, a nightclub located in L.A where
history begin System of a Down fans in general, and Daron Malakian fanatics in
particular were impatiently waiting to hear the new tunes from the new formed
band SCARS ON BROADWAY with Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan on the drums.
Secret show that night, was not a secret anymore, SOADFans were there
witnessing every minute of the new born band, with words, photos and even
videos, we got you the first review ever of the very first SCARS live show! |

 With
System of a Down on hiatus, guitarist Daron Malakian took the opportunity
to explore more song-based work, writing most of the album on keyboard. That
said, several tracks have an intense metal-prog feel, which SOAD fans will find
familiar.
"I wouldn't say it's where we left off with System," Malakian says of the
Scars project, which he produced himself (with early input from Rick Rubin) —
and also includes SOAD drummer John Dolmayan. "I have been trying to go
to another place with it — without completely losing who I am."

 SOAD side project trades metal for melodic rock.
John Dolmayan thought he'd
have a few relaxing years when System Of A Down went on hiatus in 2006. It
didn't work out that way: He appeared on bandmate Serj Tankian's solo debut, and
now he's behind the drums again in sessions for Scars on Broadway, his new band
with SOAD singer-guitarist Daron Malakian.
Surrounded by flickering candles at
Sunset Sound in Hollywood, Dolmayan is pounding a forceful, brooding beat that's
heavy on the cymbals. Watching nearby, Malakian calls it "the Dolmayan shuffle."

due later this Summer.
