As
for the set, I don't remember the order except that he opened with 'Unthinking
Majority', and then went into 'Empty Walls' and 'Feed Us'. He did every song
from Elect The Dead except, 'Elect The Dead' and 'Money', as well as 'Holiday in
Cambodia'.
Serj (and Cavalera Conspiracy) are really the reason I was willing to dish out
150 dollars for pit tickets. The friend I went with was excited for Serj as
well, (not as much as Metallica though) and this was his first time seeing him.
We did see a few obvious Serj fans, sporting SOAD shirts, and even Serj shirts.
When he finally came on stage, it seems like those fans that we saw were the
only ones who were really there. |

Serj Tankian has been touring in support of his first solo album, 2007's
"Elect the Dead", and the highlights of his last eight months on the road may
soon be documented in a DVD.
Serj told The Pulse of Radio that the package could contain a lot of
previously unreleased material. "It's funny, 'cause the record's only 45 minutes
and we've headlined a lot of shows where we've played an hour fifteen, so that's
30 minutes of music," he said. "So there's covers, there's new songs, there's
unreleased stuff, so we have a lot of stuff that we can release on such a
vehicle like a DVD." |

As
an Armenian-American who was born in Beirut, Serj Tankian never seems to
run out of things to sing and write about. Tankian, the lead singer of the
multi-platinum American rock band System of a Down, is currently touring
as a solo artist in support of his album "Elect the Dead," which peaked at #4 on
the Billboard music charts in November 2007.
Tankian is also a co-founder of the Axis of Justice organization, whose purpose
is to bring together musicians, fans of music and grassroots political
organizations to fight for social justice together.
System of a Down and Tankian are known for their aggressive and
heavy-yet-melodic rock sound, anti-war stances, and lyrics that range from
socially conscious and poetic to dark and bizarre.
Tankian recently sat down for an e-mail interview with The Arab American News: |
