Serjicalstrike myspace posted a tentative artwork cover for Serj's new solo
album titled "Elect The Dead".

On the other hand, Kerrang! magazine had this little info about Serj's album
in their latest issue:
System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian is putting the finishing touches to his
solo album 'Elect the Dead' and hopes to release it later this year.
"It's been what I've been working on for the past 12 months," Tankian tells
Kerrang!. "It's a progressive rock record with a very wide sonic palette--not
just a four-piece sound--with more intimate lyrics with epic resonance. A lot of
the songs are pretty new, while some have been with me for a while."
More info to be out soon

Serj To Appear On New Praxis Album
|
 |
| Posted by pwned on Thursday, March 08, 2007 - 11:36 PM |
Right
now, Laswell is juggling a number of projects. A soon-to-be released Praxis album, Profanation, features Killah Priest of the Wu-Tang Clan and Serj
Tankian, the lead singer for metal band System of a Down. With Zorn and rock vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), Laswell also has
recorded a benefit album for The Stone. But he seems as excited by upcoming live performances as he does about these studio undertakings.
Praxis is the name of an ever-changing Bill Laswell musical project. One of the best live and most influential groups of the last 20 years, Praxis defined a new
genre in music by combining elements of Funkadelic, Last Exit, jazz, hip-hop and heavy metal into a highly improvised, extremely challenging music. First
appearing in 1992 with the critically acclaimed Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis), Buckethead, Bill Laswell, Bernie Worrell and Brain have defined the
direction of the band over the last 14 years. Read More about Bill Laswell’s Method of Defiance:

Serj Tankian Apearance on Big Day Out 2007
|

Serj Tankian appeared as a "special guest" with Tool on the Big Day Out
festival 2007 in Auckland
"'We might have a special guest on this next song, possibly. Maybe you've
heard of his up and coming new band, System of a Down?" said Tool Vocal and
frontman, Maynard.
Serj appeared on the last half of the song 'Sober', near the 'Don't you toy
with me you bastard! Don't you joke about something like that!' part and then,
towards the end, a figure walked over the stage and got a mike and began to
sing. Serj Tankian's voice was instantly recognizable as he moaned and wailed
the melody of the song for a few minutes.
After the song Maynard said "Thanks Serj" and they had a group hug.
Check a bad quality video (audience recording) for the performance in here:

Fair To Midland: Working With Serj A 'Surreal' Experience

You may not have heard of them yet, but they’ve got a very strong recommendation coming from vocalist Serj Tankian of System Of A Down. Texas natives Fair To Midland were hand-picked by Tankian to be one of the first bands to record under his new label Serjical Strike Records, and their full-length April release date is rapidly approaching. While the band does not sound like the manic-metal genius of SOAD, it does draw on a variety of different genres that is just as intriguing. With infectious riffs and a vocalist that has a range that even the ladies will envy, Fair To Midland are likely to attract the attention of more than just their regular Texas concertgoers when they hit the road with Dir en grey in February. |

"I co-composed for this film called Bug by William Friedkin. It's got Ashley
Judd and Harry Connick Jr. It's a really, really interesting dark, almost dark
comedy kind of. I don't want to talk about the film because I don't know how
they're describing it, but to me it was just really wacky and a really out there
kind of film. So, it was really fun working on it and doing some of the
compositions for it, yeah." |
