Serj Tankian Urges Fans to Turn Up the Heat on KFC

Still riding the wave of success of his album Elect the Dead and busier than ever with his new solo career since System of a Down went on hiatus, vocalist Serj Tankian recently took time out of his hectic touring and recording schedule to stick it to the Colonel--KFC's Colonel Sanders, that is.

The political activist and Grammy Award winner has teamed up with his pals at peta2--the world's largest youth animal rights organization--and signed the group's petition to KFC at peta2.com, and Tankian is asking his legions of devoted fans to do the same.

I just got back a few hours ago. It was Amazing. The show was scheduled to start at 8:00pm, but it started at 9:00pm. To start off, the fans were crazy all night. I was standing not so far from the stage and I was on the side were Dan and Mario were. They started with 'Sounds Of War'. I heard this Amazing song on youtube, and I got to say you have to hear it live in person, because it's 100 times more amazing live. Next They played 'Empty Walls'.

Aphex Twin, Goldfrapp, Kate Nash, Serj Tankian, Redd Kross and Adele have joined the lineup for the 2008 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, to be held April 25-27 at Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. As previously reported, Jack Johnson, Portishead and former Pink Floyd principal Roger Waters will headline this year's Coachella, with the Verve, Kraftwerk, Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Spiritualized, Cafe Tacuba and the Raconteurs near the top of the bill.

Serj Tankian Sings of Hope and Utter Despair

The former lead singer of System of a Down shares his feelings of hope, inspiration and utter dejection about our current state of affairs. When Serj Tankian takes on political and social issues on his new solo album, Elect the Dead, he doesn't mince words. In the most political song on the album, "The Unthinking Majority," he writes about a hypocritical warmongering government running a society controlled by antidepressants (in 2006, over 227 million antidepressant prescriptions were dispensed in the United States.):
