JOHN DOLMAYAN DRUMMER OF THE YEAR! |

In this years Drum! magazine John Dolmayan was voted Drummer of the year for 2006 and also the Alternative Rock Drummer of the year.
This being out of the August 2006 issue of Drum!. His quote featured in it states, "You need the next big goal. I try to come up with something personally to motivate me. What's motivating me now is to make more albums, try to have a sense of growth. I want people to say 'I didnt think that guy could improve more, but wow, he really has.' That's important for other drummers to think that i'm improving."-

man I fuckin love System and John, but i really think that Mezmerize and Hypnotize didnt have his best work, and there are other drummers who deserve that more, he won just cuz people liked System so much

@ Vicinity of ... you maybe right about the point, that System have many fans, but he also is a very disciplinated drummer. you can hear it in every show. no fuckups. and if you read about "best xy -musicians-" it does not always has to do if the musician is the best, but if he can provide that special feeling, if he isnt afraid of mixing things and improvise, being natural etc etc... thats why Daron has been chosen one of the best guitar players in rock n roll History, even though hes one of the worst(at least live). but he provides that feeling, makes music you can actually feel the emotion. John is a very good drummer in this kind of music. you cant compare John with .... for example Joey from slipknot or that Korn Guy, because theyre different music styles. ps.sorry for my english. correct me, if i have made mistakes ;) ive learned it myself, but i think its pretty good ;)

This is awesome - I'm so happy that people who know drums and drumming recognize his talent. You know there are drummers who are more "technically proficient", but they aren't playing for a band whose music is as demanding and difficult as SOAD. And John deserves so much credit for his creativity and heart that goes into the music. Not to mention that he's such an all-around great guy...
