Axis of Justice Launches 2006 With Noam Chosmsky
Posted by whiskass on Saturday, January 07, 2006 - 06:33 PM

"The Axis of Justice Radio Network", the monthly radio program hosted by Tom Morello (AUDIOSLAVE) and Serj Tankian (SYSTEM OF A DOWN), will launch its 2006 season with a very special show set to air Friday, January 13. Morello and Tankian will welcome Noam Chomsky, the famed scholar, political activist and libertarian socialist. "The Axis of Justice Radio Network" can be heard on KPFK in Los Angeles (90.7 FM) and in Santa Barbara (98.7 FM) at 7:00 p.m., online at www.kpfk.org, and on XM Satellite Radio on XM channel 53.

The interview was conducted and taped in December and over the course of the one-hour program, Chomsky discusses subjects such as Iraq, propaganda, American activism, the international labor movement, and hope for the future. When Chomsky was asked "What gives you hope for the future", he responded, "What gives me hope is people like you, and your listeners. In fact, the general population of the United States." He goes on to say how, despite right-wing politicians and a massive campaign to shift American values to the right, Americans maintain startlingly progressive, humane values.

Axis of Justice is a non-profit organization formed by Morello and Tankian. Its purpose is to bring together musicians, fans of music, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice together. Axis of Justice aims to build a bridge between fans of music around the world and local political organizations to effectively organize around issues of peace, human rights, and economic justice.

Alright then, what about people who mindlessly follow their leaders?

We can't blame people for making harsh comments toward Serj, Tom, and everyone else...it's human nature to burst out at anything that seems abnormal to us and to burst without doing proper research beforehand. If those people read everything posted here and really took a good look at the world around them, they wouldn't be saying such things. Yeah, I got angry at 'em...but fuck 'em. Their ignorance will be their undoing.

right on timmah1231,

It's all about understanding, and people will attack what they don't understand. This is on both sides of the political spectrum, but especially the right wing, considering the left is about social justice and tolerance, which is much less hateful. A lot of these ignorant morons would probably change their mind if they stepped back and took a good look at the world instead of just following like drones what George Bush and the mainstream media tell them.

I'm getting the Axis of Justice CD off of ebay.

The last AOJ radio broadcast was in August or something, right?

I think it is funny that you guys believe that all conservatives just mindlessly follow leaders simply because you do not see things their way.

There are uninformed people on both sides of the spectrum.

As a conservative I happen to know that most of us don't believe everything the administration does is correct. Ill give you two examples I disagree on: deficit, border.

also, noam chomsky is a nutcase.

why is chomsky a nutcase? have you ever read him?

chomsky's got more reasoning ability in his right pinky than you have demonstrated in the combined effort of all your posts here on this board, geoff-tomatopants-myexplanation boy.

i really think you should go back and mingle with your sensible minded folk on the rush limbaugh board where you can live in your happy little tax-the-poor-to-feed-the-rich world.

you may not agree with him, but at least he backs up every one of his statements with exhaustive footnoting and backup material. case in point: check out: www.understandingpower.com the online footnotes for his book Understanding Power. The book itself is 400 pages. He provides 450 pages of backup footnotes for the 400 pages of actual text. And please let me know which book(s) you read to arrive at your knowledge of history. I'd like to read them.
